I really don’t believe wellness is something we can obtain with a diet or with working out all the time. What we eat and how often we move our bodies matters, but they aren’t a full portrait of wellness. Wellness starts internally, with our minds and hearts and souls, and then it moves outward. This is why weight and 6 pack abs aren’t what determine wellness. True wellness is a balanced life, is healing work that touches every part of who we are, is self love and self kindness, is respect for ourselves and for others. Wellness is a spiritual act that engages our bodies and minds in a holistic way. Working with a therapist or a life coach is as essential to our wellness rituals as anything else - there truly just isn’t balance without it. For ME wellness looks like deep heart work, healing triggers and wounds, happy hour with my girlfriends, lunch breaks on my back patio, yoga, hiking, time with my kids, eating whole, plant based foods, good supplements, essential oils, meditation, books and podcasts that grow me, netflix and pizza, soy london fog lattes at my favorite local coffee shop, al anon meetings, new apple music playlists, long facetimes with my people, and prioritizing the relationship I have with myself. You’re the only one who can define what true wellness encompasses. I am in no way qualified to tell you what that should look like for you, so this is all just what works for ME.
THE MULTIVITAMIN QUEEN
First things first: I was anemic for 11 years and had done EVERY.THING. my doctor, my friends, and the internet had suggested but my iron levels just never budged. I basically just got used to the symptoms (low energy, weird reactions to exercising, losing my train of thought easily, insomnia, etc). AND THEN I TRIED RITUAL (hell yes, I’m super stoked about it).
I honestly didn’t really expect my anemia to be affected - I just wanted an easier way to take all the supplements I take on a daily basis (they’re specifically formulated with folate, omega 3, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, iron, vitamin k2, boron, vitamin e, and magnesium). Bonus points for being vegan, JUST the essentials we don’t get from food, and in a bioavailable form.
3 months into popping these 2 fancy pills every day I had to get a physical for my insurance renewal. My doctor brought up my iron issues again when she was sending me off to the lab and she (again) recommended iron supplements, which I had been taking and seeing zero results from. But then I got my results back and she wrote a note on the form - I’m officially no longer anemic. My iron levels were still a little lower than she wanted them to be, but holy cow babes! I don’t know what kind of magic is in those tiny little ritual snowglobe looking pills, but I’m here for it. For life.
When I posted in my stories the rad babes at Ritual sent me a sweet celebration gift and that’s genuinely some badass customer service. High five to companies who SEE people and celebrate them.
This isn’t a sponsored post, but Ritual lets me give a code to my friends for $5 off your first order and a $5 credit towards my next bottle. Win/win.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Remember how I wrote about wellness being a mind/body/soul thing up above? When I talk about immune boosters I have to acknowledge some of the energetic/emotional aspects of building a stronger immune system for myself. I’ve notoriously gotten brutally sick way too often - especially around the holiday seasons. The last two years have been the first time I didn’t have strep throat, or bronchitis, or pneumonia, or the flu on Thanksgiving and there is no doubt in my mind that it has everything to do with the fact that I’ve removed myself from my marriage and the constant cycling that was happening there. Energetically I am so much clearer, emotionally I am so much lighter, my body isn’t under constant stress these days and that makes a huge difference.
About 4 or 5 years ago I did a fitness/nutrition challenge with my ex husband and it completely changed the way I looked at my diet. I had some issues with disordered eating during the worst part of my marriage, which means I was withholding food from myself as a way to feel in control of my emotional pain. There’s so much to it, but the gist is that I was incredibly unhealthy and skinny (see, weight doesn’t equal health) for a year or so. I’ve done a lot of work to heal the pain beneath that behavior and these days I am very careful to not participate in anything that would require me to restrict my food intake. So when we did a fitness/nutrition challenge that summer I was really surprised to discover that, even with my inner healing, I still wasn’t eating ENOUGH. The totally normal portions and the frequency of eating meals and snacks was really triggering for me initially, but then I started to feel balanced and AWAKE. I remember not even being able to fall asleep some nights because of the amount of energy buzzing through my body. The biggest thing that happened for me that summer is I kicked my immune system issues and went MONTHS without getting sick. Since then I’ve paid much more attention to how often I’m eating (and what I’m eating) in my quest to keep my immune system doing its job. That being said, I have some constants that we use to keep us as well as possible (especially during the winter).
Pure therapeutic grade essential oils are the BEST immune boosters I know of. They aren’t just a zen, feel good air freshener (they do that too), these badass oils are pure plant magic. Oils are the distilled life blood of plants, meaning they are Mother Nature designed to heal and protect creation. And we’re a part of creation. Using an EO that is free of chemicals and fillers (and that is distilled properly, i.e. your peppermint oil shouldn’t smell like candy) means you’re getting JUST the benefit of the plant without anything else interfering.
These are my favorite EO immune boosters:
Tea Tree (used topically with oregano and a carrier oil)
Copaiba (this one also has the highest levels of beta-caryophyllene found in any known plant - that’s the element that makes cannabis so effective for inflammation and pain relief)
“Host Defense MycoShield spray combines five powerful polypore mushroom species: Agarikon, Red Reishi, Chaga, Birch Polypore and Turkey Tail. These five mushrooms provide a unique "shield" of immune support.”
Everyone in my house uses this spray every morning and we kick it up to multiple times a day if we’re starting to feel funky.

GARDEN OF LIFE VITAMIN D3 SPRAY
I personally think Vitamin D is the solution to so many things. My doctor actually recommended it to me for depression and anxiety. It’s especially important in regions where high levels of sunshine aren’t so abundant (the desert life gives us plenty of sunshine, but we still use Vitamin D).
This particular product is made from lichen rather than animal products and everyone in my house take a spray under the tongue every morning.
Find it on Amazon HERE.
Young Living (the same company I get our EOs from) makes the BEST chlorophyll supplement I’ve ever found. The addition of essential oils makes this product so much more effective than other supplements. Studies have shown that average supplements have a 42% blood absorption rate within 24 hours before they are passed through the body. Supplements that are infused with essential oils increase the blood absorption rate to 64% within 30 minutes and 86% within 1 hour. This means that your cells are receiving nutrients that were previously just being flushed out of your body.
“MultiGreens™ is a nutritious chlorophyll formula designed to boost vitality by working with the glandular, nervous, and circulatory systems.* MultiGreens is made with spirulina, alfalfa sprouts, barley grass, bee pollen, eleuthero, Pacific kelp, and therapeutic-grade essential oils.”
Bonus points for wholesale accounts that give us 24% off of everything we order, meaning we’re getting all of our supplements, essential oils, and cleaning products with a Costco-like discount every time we order. Get more details HERE or message me with any questions.
